 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

Q.1 How to be a member of SINP Library?

               There are three types of member.
                     (a)  Internal (SINP/VECC staff)
                            Membership Form is available at the Library counter.
                            Required Documents to be Submitted along with the application form:
                            i. Xerox Copy of Offer Letter
                            ii.
Xerox Copy of Joining report / I-Card of this institute
                            iii.
Stamp Size Colour Photo
                     (b)  External (Only researchers / Scientists / Academicians & Distinguished Scientists)
                            Membership Form is available at the Library Counter. In case you wish to have Internet access facility, please provide us the necessary
                             information.
                     (c) Institutional.
N.B: Collect the Membership Form at the Library counter & submit with a colour stamp size photograph and relevant papers.

Q.2 What types of facilities are available for each category of members?

                (a) SINP members:
                      (1) Borrowing facility
                      (2) Xerox facility
                      (3) Inter-library-loan
                      (4) Online.
 
                 (b) VECC members
                       (1) Borrowing facility
                       (2) Online facilities 
 
                  (c) External members
                        (1) Reading room facility for reference use
                        (2) Xerox facility against payment
                        (3) Online searching & downloading
 

Q.3 Do`s and do not in the Library?

              Do`s:
                       (1) Please observe silence
                       (2) After use leave the books/journals on the table.
                       (3) Use library terminal (s) for academic purpose.
                       (4) Renew or return all issued book (s) and journals with-in due date
                       (5) Personal book (s) is/ are not allowed.
 
               Do not:
                       (1) Do not tear off any page from the books and journals
                       (2) Do not chatting in the library
                       (3) Xerox machines allows only for loose issues.
                       (4) Stack access is restricted to external users.
 

Q. 4 How can I renew a books or journals?

Q.5 How can I reserve books and journals?

                Ans: You may reserve book (s) from issue counter or email to  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
 

Q.6 How can I request for a new title?

                 Ans: Please go to our library home page, click on the purchase request icon, fill-up the form and submit.
 

Q.7 Can I get photocopies /pdf file of periodical articles through ILL?

 
                  Ans: Yes. If it is not available in our library resources, please email to  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  with the bibliographic details or go to our library home page, click on the ILL  request  icon, fill-up the form and submit.
 

Q.8 What is the library hours?

                 Ans: 9.45 am to 6.00 pm is the library hour (Monday to Friday). Circulation hours 10.00-1.00 and 1.30-5.30
 

Q.9  How to get Library Clearance?

 For SINP research fellows:-

(i)                 In case he/she has completed / submitted the Ph D. thesis, then apply to the librarian with the following:

    (a)    Return all issued books & bound volume.

(b)   Submit a copy of the thesis both hard & soft copy in CD-Rom.

(c)    Surrender your Library card & Xerox account number

(d)   Resignation letter must be forwarded by the guide incase the Ph D. thesis is not awarded. 

(ii)               Incase he/she resigned without completion of Ph D. thesis, then apply to the librarian 15 days in advance with the following:  

(a)    Return all issued books & bound volume.

(b)   Return all books purchased through RF grant

(c)    Surrender your Library card & Xerox account number. 

(iii)             If he/she is CSIR/DBT/DST/DAE etc. fellow, then apply to the librarian with the following: 

(a)    Return all issued books & bound volume.

(b)   Return all books purchased through RF grant

(c)    Surrender your Library card & Xerox account number.

(d)   Submit a copy of the thesis both hard & soft copy in CD-Rom.

(e) Resignation letter must be forwarded by the guide incase the Ph D. thesis is not awarded. 

For SINP Academic/Administrative:- 

(a)    Superannuation: Apply to the Librarian for clearance after returning of all his/her issued books along with the copy of his/her superannuation documents and library card. 

(b)   Resignation: If he/she resigned from the institute, then returns all of his/her issued books and apply to the librarian along with library card for clearance. 

(c)    Study Leave: Return all your issued books and apply to the librarian along with a copy of office order. 

(d)   Lien: Return all of your issued books and apply to the librarian along with a copy of office order. 

For VECC Members:- 

(i)                  Please apply to the Librarian for clearance after returning of all his/her issued books along with the copy of his/her superannuation documents and library card. 

(ii)                If he/she resigned/transferred from VECC, then returns all of his/her issued books and apply to the librarian along with library card for clearance.
