Title              :

The CDF-II anomalous W-boson mass measurement and it's potential new physics explanations

Speaker         : Rahul Srivastava, (IISER Bhopal

Venue            : seminar Room 3307
Abstract        :

Recently the CDF-II collaboration has published their latest results
on W-boson mass measurement at the Tevatron Collider at Fermilab. The results
show a 7-sigma deviation from the Standard Model expectation. In this talk I
will discuss the various classes of new physics models which can explain this
anomalous W-boson mass measurement. In particular, I will discuss new physics
   scenarios where:
   a) Triplet scalars change W-mass at tree level
   b) Doublet scalars change W-mass at one loop level
   c) A new U(1) gauge symmetry and the Z' boson changes Z-boson mass at tree level
