The Academic Council of HBNI has conferred the Outstanding Doctoral Student Award-2020 in Physical Sciences to Dr. Avik Banerjee of Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics.
Dr. Banerjee completed his Ph.D work under the guidance of Prof. Arnab Kundu.

Abstract- Gauge/string duality is arguably one of the most landmark achievements in string theory, providing a framework within which non-perturbative regimes of gauge theories can be probed with string theory/gravity.  My research attempts to explore various aspects of quark-like fundamental flavour degrees of freedom in strongly coupled gauge theories within this framework, which is otherwise beyond the scope of conventional quantum field theories. In particular, it focuses on understanding chaotic behaviour of quarks in such strongly interacting thermal plasma.
