Who am I?

Abhijit Kumar Malakar (M. Sc., M. A., MLIS)

Childhood: Let's go. I, Sri Abhijit Kumar Malakar born in 9th April, 1964 at village - Kamdebkati, Dist. - 24 Parganas (N), West Bengal. My father had migrated from East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in 1948 and got a service in West Bengal Govt. Police Department.

Basically our family profession was cultivation and my love and dream was that. When I was very little, I was engaged in our cultivated land with my uncle and my cousin and they were my idol in the field of physical labour. My childhood was very hard, at that time, most of the cultivated land was out of irrigation and affected by flood almost every year. So we were in under nutrition, because we had a large joint family on my fathers shoulder. We had some cattle and I was raring them with great care.

My illiterate grandfather was blind in his later life but he had a great memory. He told us the great Ramayana & Mahabharata in such a style and sentiment that tear was growing continuously from my eyes. My mother is really a good house wife, actually she is responsible to establish a root-less family in a new situation. The softness and compassion of my character  I inherited from them.

In my childhood, my love was pigeon. I have near about 100 pigeon. Every day me and my brother used to researches. Another love is cricket. At that time our team was famous at the locality.

Education: My education begins at a Govt. sponsored primary school (Mogra Nimno Buniyadi Vidyalaya) in my village with a mat in my arm lap. There was a 2nd Sir (Late Tarapad Mondal) who taught us discipline. Every week he checked our nail and teeth in a line in our school ground. I remember him with great respect, because he was my first Siksha Guru.

After two years I had transferred to a missionary (St. Annes Primary School) school in to class II. Certainly a girl shifted from Calcutta and admitted to class III. She was excellent in every field and very beautiful. One day I feel attracted to her and invented that every student have the same feelings. Ultimately after some year, our 2nd boy and my (friend) cricket captain succeeded, but the story ended at a great sorrow. My friend found dead at a pond at the age of 23 and I was buried him in my own hand. The girl still unmarried. She was my un expressed first love.

In the year 1975 I had admitted to class V to the Kolsur High School at our neighbour village. At that time I have got some ideal teachers, especially my Pandit Sir, Biren Sir and Sri M. N. Mondal. I remember all of them at my leisure time with great respect. I passed Madhyamik (Secondary), and H. S. (Higher Secondary) exam. from that school in 1981 & 1984.

My collage (Sree Chaitanya College, Habra under Calcutta University) life is so hard, because after every day's hard work in cultivation, I attained my classes at the evening to night. After all I passed my B. Sc. degree at 1986. After my college education I completed  B. A. in History from Calcutta University as a private student.

My suitable remembrances had been started at the campus of Vidyasagar University at Midnapore. When I was admitted to my Bridge Course (Special Honours)  in 1988. I had started my mess & hostel life and left my suitable home permanently. In my M. Sc. Part I, I fall in love to my junior (Subarna), but I always stay with my class mate Suparna and people knows that I have an affair with her.  Suparna was engaged with my friend Abhijit Kar and now they are happy couple. At that period  I have got a bunch of good friends and well wishers. The ideal teachers Prof. M. K. Santra, P. G. Ganguly, Rajat Kanti Das, Abhijit Guha & especially Gopal Krishna Chakrabarty are the assets of my life. I have receive my M. Sc degree in 1991 and completed my M. A. in 1992 from Calcutta University as private student.

In 1994, I was admitted to Rabindra Bharati University for the course of BLIS but dropped, because I have affected with severe jaundice. I was readmitted in 1995 with my lover and enjoyed campus life among my newly acquired friends.

In 1996, I was admitted to Jadavpur University for the course of MLIS and have got lot of friends especially Sri Chandra Sekher Keot now working at New Delhi. Almost at the end of the course I have got my job at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics as Scientific Assistant B.
