Physics

MSc in Physics or BSc with 4 Yrs (8-Semester) in Physics

Life and Chemical Sciences
Masters degree in Life Sciences (with Chemistry and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or
Masters degree in Physics or Chemistry (with Biology at 10+2 level) or
BSc with 4 Yrs (8-Semester) in Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology or
MTech. in Biotechnology (with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology at 10+2 level).

All eligible students must apply through our online portal only. The link is available here.

Selection procedure
Shortlisting will be made based on previous academic records, performances in the following nation-wide screening tests:
Students should have a valid score card on the last date of submission of application.

For Physics

CSIR/UGC NET (July 2024 onwards - Category 1 and Category 2 only), GATE (2024 onwards) in Physics, JEST (2025 onwards).

For Life Sciences and Chemical Sciences: 
JGEEBILS 2026, Valid CSIR / UGC / DBT NET JRF Only, GATE (2024 Onwards)

SINP WILL NOT CARRY OUT AN ADDITIONAL WRITTEN TEST DURING SELECTION.

The list of shortlisted candidates will be published in the webpage. The shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews and it will be in HYBRID MODE (either online or in-person interview – one candidate can choose one option only) for all the science streams. 


Shortlisted candidates will be informed by email also. Final selection of candidates will be based on their past records and interviews. Selected candidates will be informed by email and also through announcement in this web page.

Important Information
All candidates must apply through online portal with hall ticket number/rank/percentile marks of national level qualification tests JGEEBILS/NET/GATE etc. SINP holds full rights to select/not select a candidate at any stage of the selection process.

Fellowships and benefits
The selected students will be admitted as Junior Research Fellow (JRF) of SINP.

   
Fellowships
   37,000/- p.m. for JRF
   
42,000/- p.m. for SRF


   
Tenure
   
4 years, extendable to the 5th year. Yearly renewals and 5th year extensions are subject to satisfactory performance.
   
Contingency, HRA, Medical benefits, etc. are as per extant rules.
   
Limited hostel accommodations are available.
