Topotronics : transport in topological materials

In this colloquium, I will give a brief introduction to the basic ideas of topological materials, from the quantum Hall effect to its generalisation to the quantum spin Hall effect and time-reversal invariant topological insulators. Then I will discuss the relevance of Dirac materials in condensed matter systems, leading upto novel materials such as Weyl semi-metals. Finally, I will give a brief summary of some of our recent work in this field.
