Abstract | : |
The Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB accelerator at KEK in Japan will probe energy scales beyond the reach of the LHC. By examining flavour-changing processes of particles produced in e+e- collisions it will attempt to resolve some of the outstanding questions in particle physics. In this colloquium, after reviewing the historical significance of flavour physics, I will discuss the physics behind the Belle II experiment and SuperKEKB. In particular its complementary nature to experiments at the energy and cosmological frontiers will be discussed. |
