Abstract        :

AdS/CFT furnishes a non-perturbative definition of quantum gravity in asymptotically anti de Sitter spacetimes (AdS bulk) in terms of a conformal field theory (CFT) supported on the conformal boundary. In this talk, I will present an account of efforts leading to recovering local bulk physics from the CFT, including our ongoing work on extending the construction of Kabat and Lifschytz to recover the bulk metric in a subregion homologous to CFT data on a given boundary subregion. Based on work in progress with Daniel Kabat (CUNY) and Shubho Roy (IIT Hyderabad).
