Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D. programme of the Institute in Biophysical Sciences. The coming session will start from August, 2012 and students are required to undertake a year long Post M.Sc. course work as per new "UGC Regulations, 2009".
Research in interdisciplinary areas of Biology and Chemistry are done in Crystallography & Molecular Biology, Biophysics, Structural Genomics and Chemical Sciences Divisions, and Electron Microscopy Facility of the Institute. For further details please see our Home Page under Biophysical Sciences.
Any student who have completed (within past two years) or about to complete Master's degree in Physical/Chemical/Biological Sciences with at least 55% marks at all levels can apply. At the Higher Secondary (10+2) level the candidate should also have studied Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. However, mere fulfillment of minimal academic qualification does not ensure a call for selection procedure.
The selection will be based on commendable academic records and performances in a written examination and an interview. All the candidates will have to apply according to the prescribed format.

The fellowship is Rs. 16,000/-per month for the first two years and Rs. 18,000/-per month thereafter with a fixed book grant of Rs. 20,000/- after one year. Hostel accommodation will be available. Medical benefit and House Rent Allowance as per rules will also be admissible.
Candidates called for the Admission Test will be reimbursed with return second class railway fare from their normal place of residence on production of railway ticket and will be paid haltage charge @ Rs.100/-, if applicable as per the rules of the Institute.
